Name: Volunteer Fair / Touch a Truck
Date: September 17, 2022
Time: 12:00 PM - 3:00 PM EDT
Event Description:
The Middle Smithfield Township Parks & Recreation Committee will host a Volunteer Fair and a Touch a Truck Opens in new tab event on Saturday September 17 from noon to 3pm, at Echo Lake Park Opens in new tab in East Stroudsburg, PA. The rain date is Sunday September 18. Looking for volunteer opportunities? At the Volunteer Fair, residents can learn about what our area’s nonprofit organizations do for our community, how to use their services, and how to get involved. These organizations depend on volunteers to keep operating, and hope to get some great new people to sign up. Children of all ages will enjoy “Touch a Truck”, with local emergency vehicles and the Township’s biggest and coolest road equipment. Marshalls Creek, Bushkill and Shawnee Fire Companies and Bushkill Emergency Corps all plan to attend. We are also excited to have antique cars from the Lost In Time Car Club this year for all ages to enjoy. There will also be a visit from the LVHN MedEvac helicopter during the event if their schedule permits. Some of the community organizations participating in the fair include: Eastern Monroe Public Library, the Kindness Project, Camp Papillion, Phoenix Martial Arts Society, Monroe County Control Center, Pennsylvania Mountain Rescue, Monroe County Historical Association, Friends of the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, Penn State Extension Master Gardeners, Monroe County Meals on Wheels. These groups, including the emergency services at the Touch a Truck, are always looking to sign up new volunteers. “This is an opportunity for residents to visit with some of our area’s best organizations and learn more about them,” said Parks and Recreation Coordinator Christopher Rain. “These are the people who keep us safe and make our community a better place. We hope this event will connect them with the community and get more people involved.” Parking and admission are FREE. Parking is NOT available at the park. Parking is located at the Middle Smithfield Presbyterian Church across the street, and the Marshalls Square Mall next door, with safety personnel to help you get to the event. Echo Lake Park is located at 5200 and 5206 Milford Road, East Stroudsburg, PA 18302.
